SAFF U-19 Women' s Football begins on Friday with hosts Bangladesh taking on Nepal in opener

Dhaka, Feb 01 ( UNB)- The four- nation SAFF U-19
Women's Football Championship '2024 begins here Friday (February 2) at the Bir Shreshtho Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur with Bangladesh keeping their birds eyes for retaining the title.
Defending champions and hosts Bangladesh will start their campaign taking on Himalayan nation Nepal in one of the two opening day's matches will kick off at 7 pm (Bangladesh Time) on Friday.
India will play Bhutan in the other opening day's fixture at 3 pm at the same venue.
In the remaining matches, Bangladesh will play their giant neighbor India on February 4 and Bhutan on February 6 at the same time and same venue.
The final match between top two teams of four nations meet will be held on February 8.
In a pre-match press briefing at BFF House on Thursday, the most experienced Bangladesh coach Saiful Bari Tito said, "Country gave us a lot, now the time comes to do something for the country, and only the players can do it, we (coach) can help only them fixing the match strategy".
Our team had a good combination with five experienced national players and some promising footballers, they are practicing football together for few times, so, I am hopeful about retaining the title ".he added
Bangladesh captain Afida Khandakar echoed her previous voice and said, "we are now targeting on the first match and we want to make passage for the final beating Nepal'.
Captains and coaches of India, Nepal and Bhutan were also addressed the press briefing on Thursday.
